Former El Divino Site, Mays Meadow

Kevin McShane Ltd are delighted to have provided the Transportation services to Benmore for the approval of a new Residential development comprising 154 apartments and active ground floor retail use on the former El Divino site in Belfast. The approval was conditional on a section 76 planning agreement, which includes green transport measures involving travelcards and a car club, one of the first for Belfast.

The scheme was considered under the council's new delegated procedures. This required the support of the infrastructure minister and considerable legal scrutiny over a four-week period. Turley was the planning agent. The scheme offers real hope that we will see more active travel developing in Belfast. With Covid we have seen an increase in walking and cycling and we now need to be planning for sustainable travel rather than everyone owning and using a car.
